Who Is Feeding Who? What the Social Feed Takes From Creators

A survival guide for conscious creators in the age of merging with the noise.

← All transmissions

Shortly before I started trickling back into posting, I thought I would go see what had changed on social media over the last 15 months.

As I started searching certain things on the apps, my feed and my algorithm quickly changed to that type of content. Almost every single video started the same way, with these identities you have to subscribe to within the first couple of seconds, which subconsciously commits you to saying, oh, that’s me, I need to watch this until the very end.

This is coming from someone who understands virality. Who understands hooks. Who understands that the value creators give is in support of their offer.

And there is nothing innately wrong with this. The hook, value, call to action formula works. The difference is the threshold between consuming and creating. That is where we give our power away, and start slowly unseating ourselves with every save-for-later video, knowing full well we will never go back to those tips.

I kept going down the rabbit hole. What is working, say this, don’t do this, don’t do that. Ten minutes went by, and I remember the shift in the room, like someone changed the temperature. I went from motivated to record content, to there must be a strategy I need to know before I start posting. After all, I was most familiar with Instagram, not these other platforms.

Maybe you have felt this same shift.

When you’re caught in that wave of creation and you go to the “source” of media to find the how, you slowly start feeling separate from your desired outcome. Or worse, you start identifying with the reasons why you need the person on the other side of the screen. That is how your energy gets fed off of in the social feed.

I have been bathing in my creative energy for fifteen months, scrolling now with pruney fingers.

That soak let me hone in on my why, on my soul’s desire. And because of it, I have become very sensitive to what is on the other side of the screen. I can feel it. I can see it. When content is there, I can feel the overflow of the person who made it, or I can feel their seeking.

And I could feel my own, picking up the phone in preparation to start posting again.

I could feel the prana after this long soaking. It is like the waters of the mother. And it led me to this observation, and to this survival guide.

Here is the question I keep coming back to. Everything is energy, and this is why I believe it is called the social feed.

Who is feeding who?

When I am on the consumer side scrolling, I inventory my energy before and I inventory my energy after. And then I realize, ah, I gave my creative force, which is also my prana, my food, away.

The difference is that when we give our energy away and we feel depleted, there is a level of consent that happens, because we are subscribed to certain beliefs. Whereas when we are in tune with our trust and surrender, with a belief bigger than an environment, rather a belief so innate that it becomes the operating system of the person who is abundant, the person holding the identity that you desire, you are not separate.

This feed being off your creative spark can only happen when you give it away. Obviously that happens at an unconscious, subconscious level. Our duty and our responsibility as conscious beings is getting to a position in the present moment where we have the discernment to understand when it is happening.

So this is the guide. Five pillars for surviving this era without being in survival.

1. Spiritual hygiene

I call it spiritual hygiene. It is about inventorying how you feel before and how you feel after. If the answer is depleted, or anything other than an enlightened, spark-filled, motivated state, that is information.

During those fifteen months when I was not posting content, the biweekly calls I have with my students always ended with an action plan. They always leave motivated. That is the goal. If it is anything other than that, it becomes very important for me to ground. Through journaling, through writing, through reflection, and through understanding that there is a belief underneath it.

There is always a belief we subscribe to.

Let me show you what this looks like, because it happened to me starting here on Substack.

Naturally, I am someone who can sit down and offload. I can feel the medicine of the wisdom that wants to come through. But when I opened Substack, I could see all the ways to grow on Substack, and it reminded me of the way I grew on Instagram. On Instagram I spoke a lot about how to grow on Instagram, and a majority of my growth came from that. Facebook got to almost 400,000 followers. An all-time high on TikTok with 11 million views.

On every platform, if you pay attention, when somebody talks about the strategy of how to grow on that platform, that is how they also drive their growth. Which is kind of interesting.

And when I entertained it for a second, I felt my old patterns, or the potential of those old patterns, coming again. Consuming. Waiting for things to be perfect. Waiting for the next idea. Maybe there is something else I am missing.

And I was like, wait, hold on. This is exactly the loop I catch my students in. I have been creating on social media since 2023. Could I really fall into this game?

Why am I even doing this? Liberation versus performance. Protecting the personality that a past version of me would have wanted to defend’

That was the belief underneath it. And in those moments it is actually a gift to bring yourself to gratitude. I basically unseated myself. What a gift. That means there is still an old program running. And when there is an old program, there is an opportunity to upgrade that operating system.

The beauty of it is that when you do that, it ejects a gem. That gem is the wisdom. That gem is the medicine. That is your next piece of content just like this letter.

2. Discernment

The number one thing everyone needs to learn is discernment. And unfortunately, and also fortunately, it is something that is self-taught.

It is like when you go to a restaurant. Through the smell, through the visual, as you are scanning the menu, it is almost like your body already knows what is a yes and what is a no.

This is something we have all shut down. Instead of going to our internal technology for answers and for trust, we go outside of ourselves.

Through all the noise, these tactics all have a skeleton. There are things that work. And there are things that can only be true if you give your belief away and unseat yourself from actually trying. It is through showing up and taking action that you are going to see for yourself the fruits of the labor.

The truth is, if you stay consistent, anything works. The difference is the belief behind the action, the attachment, and the identity. When you outgrow the person who needs that, who seeks that, it is all noise. It is not food for the soul.

This layer of discernment is when you are the observer consuming. You get to decide what type of creator you will be. So when you are watching someone’s content, notice:

Is it to empower others?

Are they detached from the outcome?

Or do they need you to like the video?

Do they need you to hit follow?

Do they need you to hit the link in bio?

I know this can feel like I am tiptoeing around the idea of selling. I am not. This is hands down how I have made a majority of my income. Content.

People already know what to do on social media. They will go check out the link in bio. If they resonate with you because you are showing up authentically, if you have a promise, if you have a transformation to offer, everything else goes smoothly.

More specifically, discernment here is about not letting your consumption dictate your creatorship. It is watching somebody’s content, knowing it does not resonate with you, and allowing it to go back into the field for somebody else to transmute. It is knowing that if content triggers you, it is also a part of you being mirrored back.

This is not from a place of judgment on the other person. I am not one to talk about cringe content, copy-paste, cookie-cutter. I have played that role.

The reason it is so visceral for me now is the consistent loosh feeding that happens to amazing creators. People full of magic, full of healing, full of medicine they want to bring forward. Every time I have conversations with them, they subscribe to all these ideas, and I can understand why. It is extremely loud out there.

This is for every creator with that spark who is still giving their power away to these voices, because they have not yet found the discernment of what actually resonates.

And again, this has nothing to do with the person creating that content. They are aspects of us, and somebody has to play that role to invite us into this greater awakening. Holding gratitude for those people is part of it.

When everybody is speaking the same, it is difficult to know who you truly are.

I do not think you are here to blend in with everybody else. You are here to be that color on the black-and-white canvas that social media is.

3. Guard what cannot be replaced

Listen, I love AI. I teach AI, and I teach how to use AI for implementation. That is the beauty of having these tools.

But with these systems creating the same copy, the same headlines, the same websites, the same funnels, the same emails, everything starts looking the same. And you are left with the one thing that cannot be replaced.

Your frequency. Your voice. Your transmission. Your medicine. Your before, your after, your transformation.

That is what you are offering. And how you present it, how you communicate it, how you connect to others through your voice, through your heart, through the groundedness of being willing to allocate the time to bring yourself to a centered position and allow breath, which is source, which is God, which is creation, to come through. That is the most important thing. It is the non-negotiable. We are being called into that stillness, to really allow creation to come through.

What changes is the vibration of the content. The intention behind what you create. The energy is no longer depleting. I can feel it now as I speak this and write this. I feel nurtured, I feel excited, I feel connected, because my heart is in the field. My voice is coming from all around me and within me, and I am simply translating.

It is through this feeling that, when you have the epiphany, you cannot forget. When something unlocks and the safe pops open, it just changes you. You change. And then you can finally start creating through your own unique lens, instead of the same template everyone is asking AI to write for them every Monday morning.

4. Create from overflow, not necessity

Here is the difference. Surviving this era is creating from overflow, detached from the outcome. Being in survival is creating out of necessity, out of scarcity.

I have come to this point of honoring my soul and the expression it wants to bring forward, and also detaching. Letting go. One person reads it, nobody reads it. It is out there, and I feel great about it.

That is the new approach. Honor the five people. The ten people. The twenty people. The hundred people.

More than likely, you have never spoken in front of that many people before. You have never had the opportunity to weave a room together. And that honor, that reverence, that absolute heart expansion that happens in response to being of service is innate in all of us. We have just forgotten.

I am always humbled by this in coherence healings, in practicing Reiki, in practicing other healing modalities. Every person I know who has an overflow in their life will drop everything to dedicate twenty minutes of their day to hold space, to meditate, to give from that overflow. Not their energy. The overflow.

They are soul-full. All ages, all backgrounds, people willing to volunteer their time to hold space for someone having a very different human experience. Someone in pain. Someone who has been told they are going to die in a few months. We are naturally willing to help someone else.

The byproduct of this is the network you get to be part of. The byproduct becomes the income, the views, the followers. Those are the byproducts of showing up from overflow.

So, are you willing to meet people from your overflow, eye to eye? Are you willing to give? Are you willing to add value to their life?

It becomes that much more important to go within and understand how to actually establish this overflow. Where your content starts becoming a full cup in the feed, rather than emptying someone else’s. Where you start to actually drink from the cup that has been served by source in front of you.

You see, it is not about survival. It never was. It is the reminder that if you are not in overflow, you are in survival.

Go all in. One hundred percent, as much as you can, in everything. Not giving fifty percent and hoping people reward you before you give the other fifty. This does not overshadow the areas where you can and should charge for your material. It means when your cup is full, when you are in overflow, giving is natural. You are not creating from scarcity. You are not creating from “I need to get this post out, I need to get these reels out, I need to get all this content out so that I can then [ insert self-fulfilling prophecy ]” .

5. Live your life as transmitted parables

It is through storytelling, for many centuries and across many cultures, that the ethos, the pathos, and the logos have survived. It is storytelling that transmits a visceral epiphany into another person.

And this is not storytelling from the perspective of being the one inside the movie. This is the observer. The director. The one who has taken responsibility to understand what it is to be the actor in your own movie and also the one directing it. The one who gets to have these plots that thicken, and who also knows there is a hero’s journey.

When you take responsibility for the things happening in your life, such as feeling separate from your desire to build a business, you are both the person going through the emotional states and the person going through the experience. And you are also your healer. You are your guide.

The more connected you get to this aspect of yourself, which is your higher self, the more that becomes how you are your own guiding light through moments like this. Start allowing that to be the process of becoming. Allow that to be your identity. Being the one who is seated so deeply, rooted and also open to receive (feeling worthy enough).

The more conscious you become of your hero’s journey, in this life, in this dimension, the more your parables become your signature story.

So I invite you to inventory five stories that have been transformative in your life. The ones you may think are not worthy. The ones you probably do not speak out loud. Those hold the biggest shift into somebody else’s field.

When we alchemize and release that energy back, the energy that has been stagnant in our field, into the collective through our voice, we are also releasing the shackles from those who may share a similar experience.

That is your content. Your content is a response to your soul. It is coming from responding to the questions people have. You are never going to have the experience of weaving a room if you do not create the channel in the feed.

Just because nobody is watching your channel does not mean your channel does not exist.

So what are you broadcasting?

As you go to create, my intention behind this letter is that the shackles fall. That this fresh perspective on how powerful your channel is becomes a reminder, and that it explains why it has probably been feeling like an initiation. Why you go to hit record and you freeze and cannot understand why.

There is a deeper part of you that already knows there is an after.

Let me tell you, I cannot wait to read your content. I cannot wait to watch your video. I cannot wait to see what happens when you liberate yourself through the overflow of giving.

It starts with belief. If you believe you need to save the videos because they have the strategy, if you believe your video needs to be a specific way, if you believe you need to say a specific thing, and you feel fulfilled by that, and you feel liberated by that, then that is exactly where you are meant to be right now. I was there too. It taught me everything I needed to know before I could hear anything else.

If you’ve made it this far then I know you are here for a greater mission ready to anchor a higher frequency in this lifetime, consciously. It is time. We are doing it together.

This is how we move away from survival. Knowing that we are the creator.

We are transferring energy, not harnessing it.

Aho!
